Building a Chemistry Library at the University of Wisconsin MadisonThe University of Wisconsin Madison chemistry library is one of the most remarkable features in the campus. There are seven buildings on the campus, each featuring its own unique set of resources and services. For example, the Chemical Engineering Building is an expansive unit that is centrally located. When it comes to classrooms, the Engineering Building contains an entirely new set of lecture halls, or, 'oldies but goodies.'The chemistry department in the Engineering Building also provides separate chemistry laboratories with computer labs, private study areas, and a press room. Students at the Madison campus who need a bit of help in the laboratory can take a look at the University Chemist program. The Chemist Program allows students to apply their chemistry knowledge to a wide variety of fields in the field of medicine, natural sciences, or other life-related sciences.One of the most historic buildings in the Mad ison campus is the Natural Resources Building. The building was completed in 1986, so the materials within are probably still the originals. The U.S. Geological Survey has been there for more than a century, so the material is also in good condition.The Psychology Building has always been a bit of a stand out from the rest of the buildings. Many of the materials inside date back to the 1930s. Much of the furniture has been updated over the years, but it was definitely done with the idea of keeping the general feel of the place. The Psychology Building also offers extensive outdoor space, including a pool that is located right outside.The Science Building is somewhat smaller than the other buildings, which makes it easier to navigate around. Inside the building is a smaller set of classrooms, one for each branch of science. The Biology and Ecology rooms contain many chemical labs, while the physics lab has a separate room that contains the soundproofing system for a demonstration. Th e Information Sciences Center features several sections, including the computer labs, an art gallery, and the biology gallery. Not only is this science building important because of its location, but it also provides much more space for the students to learn.The Chemical Engineering Building is the main entrance to the Madison campus. It is a very large building, made out of the same rock as the bridge that goes over Lake Mendota. Due to the amazing building, many science students make the trip there to spend time alone or with friends. However, many more students will go through the building on their way to and from class.Another important building in the campus is the Medical Science Building. The Medical Science Building has both a home and laboratory for the department. This has a variety of departments and many different purposes, including the Center for Child Health, the Center for Microbiology, and the Office of Occupational Safety and Health. Even though the building is big ger than the others, it is not as large as some of the other campus buildings.

Online Surface Area of a Square Pyramid Tutors A square pyramid is a 3-dimensional geometric figure consisting of a base and 4 triangles. These 4 triangles of the pyramid join the base to a single point on top known as the apex or the vertex of the pyramid. A pyramid can have different bases, but the pyramid having a square base is known as the square pyramid. Surface area of a square pyramid can be calculated by finding the sum of the area of the base and the areas of the 4 triangles together. Example 1: What is the surface area of a square pyramid which has a base length of 5m and a slant height of 12m? Given: base length, b= 5m Slant height of the pyramid, s = 12m Since it is a square pyramid, the base of the pyramid is a square. Surface area of a square pyramid = b2 + 2* b* s This gives: Surface area of the square pyramid, SA= (5)2 + (2 * 5 * 12) = 25+ 120= 145m2 Therefore, the surface area of the given square pyramid is 145m2 Example 2: What is the surface area of a square pyramid which has a base length of 7m and a slant height of 11m? Given: base length, b= 7m Slant height of the pyramid, s = 11m Since it is a square pyramid, the base of the pyramid is a square. Surface area of a square pyramid = b2 + 2* b* s This gives: Surface area of the square pyramid, SA= (7)2 + (2 * 7 * 11) = 49+ 154= 203m2 Therefore, the surface area of the given square pyramid is 203m2

Helping Kids with ADHD become Strong Readers Reading skills are central to every academic subject, and kids who struggle to read are at risk for difficulty in math, science, history, and writing. Research shows that kids with ADHD are more likely to have reading challenges than kids without ADHD, possibly because of working memory and processing speed weaknesses. Reading problems may be subtle at first and involve difficulty identifying letters or sounds. Over time, problems can include slower reading speed, difficulty with decoding, poor sight word identification, and poor reading comprehension. Once a child has fallen well behind his or her peers in reading he or she is unlikely to catch up without extra support. Research shows that kids with reading difficulties do best when they receive interventions as early as possible. So, if you suspect that your childs reading skills arent developing as well as they should be, talk to your childs teacher now. Understanding how to help a child with ADHD improve his or her reading skills can be challenging. I usually recommend starting with an academic assessment. Results from a thorough evaluation will let you and your childs teacher know exactly which reading skills are weak, will identify whether or not your child has a specific reading disorder that needs to be addressed, and will explain how your childs ADHD symptoms and difficulties with motivation are impacting his or her reading development. All of this information will help you and your childs teachers identify strategies and services that are tailored to meet your childs needs. Extra instructional support at school and through afterschool learning and tutoring programs can help your child learn basic and complex reading skills that he or she may have missed during regular classroom instruction. Many kids with ADHD are reluctant to read and go out of their way to avoid of reading. When they do read they choose books that are too easy for them or are very short. Unfortunately, this reluctance limits their opportunities to practice reading and gain essential skills. As a parent, there are many things you can do to help your child get the reading practice that is needed, without engaging in stressful arguments or negotiations. Here are some suggestions to get you started: Read to your child. Even kids who do not like to read enjoy having someone else read to them. Reading to your child can help improve his or her skills, especially when you have your child read along and ask your child to share his or her predictions and observations about the story. Take turns reading. If your child resists reading, offer to alternate reading aloud with him or her. For young children this might mean that they read one word or sentence and then you read the next word or sentence. For older children you can alternate paragraphs. Keep going and before you know it, youre child will have read half of a book! Supplement with skills practice on reading apps. Studies suggest that kids with ADHD may benefit from practicing their reading skills using computer-based reading programs. Bluster is a fun vocabulary building app, Montessori Crosswords is great for learning phonics, and Mad Libs can be a fun way for kids 4th grade and up to practice vocabulary and reading comprehension. Help your child explore websites on topics that they enjoy. Exploring interesting websites can be a great way for kids to practice reading without even realizing they are building new skills! Sit with your child and ask him or her to share what he or she is learning as he or she reads. This will improve his or her comprehension, and youll be sure that he or she is not skipping the text and only looking at pictures. With support and practice kids with ADHD can develop into strong readers. If you suspect that your childs reading skills are not as strong as they should be, dont wait. Talk to your childs teacher right away so you can get started with a plan to get your child the help that he or she needs. ABOUT DR. For some, this may be a plus because speaking in front of others, especially in a foreign language, can be daunting, but it is important to have instant feedback on your pronunciation. Arrange to meet up with classmates in-person to help each other practice the language with each other. Use resources such as online forums in the language you are learning to practice your reading and writing skills and call or video chat with classmates to practice speaking skills. When you take a class in-person, your professor is usually pretty flexible with lesson plans based on how quickly or slowly you and the rest of the class are picking things up. If you are doing well as a whole, the professor may add some extra lessons or go into more advanced material at the end of the semester. If the class is struggling, they can cut things out. However, with online classes with a set timeline, there is little room for such flexibility. This could mean that you may be bored or overwhelmed. If you have concerns, reach out to your professor and express your feelings. Keeping communication open with your professor is key. Technology, such as audio and video files, can be used to complete assignments and exams. However, technology can also cause problems. If some people use Macs and others use PCs, this can cause issues in opening files sent between the two. Also, videos can lag and the audio on videos and in audio files may not be clear. This can present a problem if you are submitting a graded assignment or are trying to learn how to pronounce new vocabulary. Most professors will not accept technology issues as a relevant problem for missing assignments, so make sure you allow yourself plenty of time to submit your assignments and alert your professor as soon as you come across any technological problems. Even so, language is something that you need to practice in real time, so if you do not do this in a traditional class setting and you are serious about learning a language, make sure you put yourself in situations to get direct feedback and practice face-to-face.
